There has been a lot of coverage in the news recently about corrupt charities and mis-managed money. Everyone from the Red Cross (what happened to all the funds intended to rebuild communities in Haiti, Louisiana, Mississippi, and other disaster-struck places?) to The Breast Cancer Society, Children’s Cancer Fund, Cancer Support Services, and Cancer Fund of America. (Tragically, these charities gave less than 3 cents on the dollar to the cancer causes they were raising money for.)
Unfortunately, these things make people wary to donate to worthy causes. How do you know your charity is actually benefitting the cause they claim to support?
And that’s why I now donate through a relatively new charity: Omaze. Not only do they offer you the chance to enter raffles for wonderful, otherwise inaccessible experiences, but they actually donate the money they say they will to charity.
Here are the current campaigns: If interested in any of these, or any possible future experiences, simply go to www.omaze.com for your chance to donate and win!
(They even have a place for you to submit your ideas of what would be your dream experience.)
Here’s the one I wish I would have won:
